I remember that one quote everyone likes. "If you stare into the void for too long, then it will stare back into you."

If the void is really looking at me right now, then what is it seeing? How would the void describe me?

I wouldn't know how to describe myself. It's hard to put it into words.

For example, there's been a hole in my chest for as long as I remember, right where my lungs should be.

A short, abstract visual novel about  .- -.- -.. ..-. .--- .- -.- -.. ..-. -. ...

Featuring:

  • 2000 words, 1 choice, and 2 endings. It's very short!
  • Absolutely incomprehensible text!
  • An existential crisis probably!
  • Music by Dan Vallerand!

I recommend this for people who want go reflective and deep. The combination of the art and music was really cool, there is one bit where the music changes and I think that part got me the feels. The only thing I would say is, some text was just hard to read. Even though I don’t have accessibility needs, I still had to turn on High Contrast text just to be able to read it.

Thank you for the kind words! And I agree, the music is great, and Dan knocked it out of the park here. :D

And yes I'm aware of the hard to read text. There is artistic intent on making it hard to read especially since I like playing with text and colors, but I ensure accessibility options like High Contrast are in the options, just in case people want to see what was written it and wonder why it's hard to read in the first place.

Colorful and poetic! Definitely good even though I don't understand what is happening! ALSO DIDN'T REALIZE THERE'S TWO ENDINGS WHAT

Very beautiful and surreal experience, loved the horror like aspects, and how it was shown through the words and psychedelic visuals.  It was like entering the mind and exploring it.

Thank you so much for the kind words!  I'm glad it came off as entering and exploring the mind, it was what I was aiming for :D

This. This is cool. I had no idea what I was in for when I hit the download button, but I'm glad I did. It made me think. It made me feel. It made me... a little uncomfortable at times, but in a good way. This is such an interesting concept and execution. (And yes, that Nietzsche quote is a quote I use often, too. :) )

I went ahead and gave this one a shout-out in my annual NaNoRenO spotlight post this year—here's the link if you'd like to check it out!

Omg thank you so much for the shout out, I feel so honored! ^^ It's also means a lot to me that my work is able to leave an impact like that on you, I'm very greatful~!

hi hi~

i was looking the submissions to nanoreno 2022 and found this. and this game -- no, this is not just a game. this is pure poetry, pure emotion, chaos, anxiety and depression all mixed up and represented beautifully. i loved this game. i really loved it. it reminded me so much of my anxious moments, times when my mind would twist into paradoxal thoughts and conflicting ideas. and at the same time reminded me of how depression makes you feel like you're running a marathon just by existing, just by breathing.

i loved how both "endings" branch, but in the end they are just different ways of seeing the same phenomenon of the internal void. after the storm passes, both leads to the same feeling of lightness.

the gui, the visual elements in general are really pretty too. it was an amazing experience. thank you!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the experience and that it resonated so deeply~! Thank you so much for your thoughtful and kind words! :D

This was beautiful!! I loved what you did with the changing fonts and the particle effects. The music was suitably creepy and set a good mood for the piece. And the textures!!!! Aaahhh the textures were so good. I got the positive ending first and then the negative one and the negative one really resonated with me. Loved this, thank you so much for making it!

Aww, thank you so much for the kind words Heiden! :D I'm glad it resonated with you!
